Publication Types
Research Reports HEI’s mission is to provide credible science to support environmental regulations and other policy decisions. The results of each HEI-funded project undergo peer-review by outside scientists and the HEI Health Review Committee. The HEI Research Reports contain the Investigator’s Report and the Review Committee’s evaluation of the study, summarized in a Commentary or short Critique. Special Reports Periodically HEI analyzes and interprets the scientific issues pertaining to a specific environmental problem. The results of these analyses are published in HEI Special Reports. Hard copies are available for purchase. Communications HEI Communications are vehicles for disseminating the results of feasibility studies, workshop summaries, conference proceedings, and some reviews of the literature. Hard copies are available for purchase. Perspectives HEI Perspectives is a series written by the HEI Health Review Committee to integrate findings across several HEI studies or entire research programs. The intent is to describe and interpret results bearing on important and timely issues for a broad audience interested in environmental health. Perspectives are free of charge. Program Summaries Summaries of research projects funded by HEI under a specific Request for Applications. Topics are air toxics, particulate matter, oxygenates, diesel exhaust, benzene and butadiene. Program Summaries are free of charge. Newsletter Update, HEI Quarterly Newsletter. Sign up for email delivery of Update here. Newsletters are free of charge. Other HEI Strategic Plan, Annual Reports, Annual Conference Programs, Pilot Study reports, unpublished reports, Investigator’s Guide, and more. With a few exceptions (as indicated), these publications are free of charge.
Web Publishing. Since 2000, HEI has been publishing all reports free of charge on its website before they appear in print. Printed copies of publications will be available a few weeks after web publishing. Click on the Order button for details on purchasing a hard copy. A fee is applied to cover printing and mailing costs. Please contact HEI about the availability of older reports.
Publications History. Publications indicated as Press Version are identical in content to the printed version of the report. For clarity, HEI identifies Web publication before the print publication as a Web Version. Information about any substantive changes or errata to a report is included with the report listing.Topics
