About:

In our publications database you will find easy access to all HEI literature. You can find publications by type (report, newsletter...) or by pre-determined topic (air toxics, diesel exhaust...). You may also use the Search tool to look for publications by a specific author or keyword.

Web Publishing. Since 2000, HEI has been publishing all reports free of charge on its website before they appear in print. Printed copies of publications will be available a few weeks after web publishing. Click on the Order button for details on purchasing a hard copy. A fee is applied to cover printing and mailing costs. Please contact HEI about the availability of older reports.

Publications History. Publications indicated as Press Version are identical in content to the printed version of the report. For clarity, HEI identifies Web publication before the print publication as a Web Version. Information about any substantive changes or errata to a report is included with the report listing.

Search tips:

(1) Please use words that are at least 4 characters long. Abbreviations are fine as long as they are the required length (e.g. MSAT).

(2) Click on a column header to sort any list by report number, title, author, or date. Click again to reverse the order.

(3) Use "quotes" to narrow down a search. For example, carbon without quotes will also find publications containing carbonyls.

(4) Use search operators such as (AND, OR) to narrow down a search.

Order Information:

To order a publication, please fill out the secure online order form in our database. Alternatively, print the form and mail or fax it to HEI, attention Publications. Please write to pubs@healtheffects.org to check for availability of older reports (published before 2000), or if you have questions about how to place an order.

Payment: HEI must receive payment before the order is shipped. HEI will not send an invoice. We accept payment by credit card, check, or money order.

Payment by Credit Card: We accept American Express, Mastercard, and VISA. To charge your order, please complete and submit the secure order form. Your card will not be charged electronically. HEI staff will process your request within 1-5 business days. Alternatively, you may print this page and mail or fax the completed form to: HEI Publications, Charlestown Navy Yard, 120 Second Avenue, Boston MA 02129, USA; fax +1 (617) 886-9335, attention Publications.

Payment by Check: Please print this page and mail the completed form with your check (in US dollars, drawn on a US bank) to: HEI Publications, Charlestown Navy Yard, 120 Second Avenue, Boston MA 02129, USA. Checks should be made payable to the Health Effects Institute.

Shipping: Publication price includes shipping by first class mail within the USA or surface mail abroad. For airmail, overnight delivery, or any other special shipping requests, please contact the publications department before you place your order (email pubs@healtheffects.org; fax +1 (617) 886-9335, attention Publications). We will contact you with a price quote.

Order multiple reports: At this time, our website does not permit multiple orders on the same order form. If you are interested in ordering more than one publication online, you must submit an order form for each item. The first order form of a multiple order must be completed in full; subsequent order forms may be abbreviated to include only your name, email address, and a note that the publication is part of a larger order. HEI staff will process and ship your orders together.
